ABOUT US
Alopecia Support Group is a global community where children, adults, and families affected by alopecia areata can find connection, encouragement, education, and the confidence to move forward. We create spaces where people are understood without explanation, supported without judgment, and reminded that hair loss never diminishes their beauty, identity, or purpose.
Through support circles, family resources, youth mentorship, confidence workshops, advocacy, and community experiences, we transform isolation into belonging and uncertainty into strength. Every program is designed to help people feel seen, reclaim their power, and navigate alopecia knowing they never have to face it alone.
Meet Our Founder
Jamie Elmore, Founder & Executive Director
Jamie Elmore is an internationally recognized alopecia advocate, author, speaker, confidence coach, publisher, and community leader. After being diagnosed with alopecia in 2004, she transformed her personal journey into a mission to help others heal, rebuild their confidence, and recognize that their identity extends far beyond their hair. In 2009, Jamie founded Alopecia Support Group to create the safe and supportive community she wished had existed during her own journey. Today, the organization serves children, adults, parents, and families through support circles, education, mentorship, workshops, advocacy, and community experiences. Jamie is also the founder of the Bald Boss Community, Editor-in-Chief of Bald Life Magazine, and Executive Producer of Harmony: Alopecia Stories. Through every program and conversation, she challenges traditional beauty standards while reminding people affected by alopecia that they are seen, supported, powerful, and never alone.

RUDD
E. Lewis Rudd is CEO and co-founder of Ezell’s Famous Chicken and a military veteran with decades of entrepreneurial and community leadership. A longtime advocate for youth, education, and economic opportunity, he brings business expertise, mentorship, and a deep commitment to strengthening communities to the Alopecia Support Group board.
VALERIE J.
PERINE
Valerie J. Perine brings more than 25 years of experience in finance, human resources, and program administration. With an MBA in Human Resource Management and previous nonprofit board experience, she brings financial stewardship, organizational leadership, and a passion for financial literacy and community empowerment to the Alopecia Support Group.

ALLEN-BARRON
Rhonda Allen-Barron brings more than 34 years of leadership experience in financial services and technology. A dedicated mentor and community advocate, she is passionate about developing future leaders, creating inclusive experiences, and building meaningful connections that strengthen people and communities.

Audrey Washington’s connection to the mission is deeply personal as the sister of Alopecia Support Group founder Jamie Elmore. Having witnessed the organization’s impact from its earliest days, she brings experience in facilitation, collaboration, and administration while helping ensure individuals and families navigating alopecia know they are never alone.

ATKINS
Tammy Atkins has supported the Alopecia Support Group since its early days through advocacy, giving, and hands-on support. Her own experience with signs of alopecia deepened her connection to the mission, and she now brings heart, energy, and lived perspective to helping others feel supported, understood, and empowered.
